Dr. Lena Lavie is a renowned cell biologist and researcher with decades of experience studying sleep. She currently works with the Lloyd Rigler Sleep Apnea Research Laboratory and is a member of the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology in Haifa. She has published more than 340 scientific articles and eight books in the field of sleep research, including The Enchanted World of Sleep, and her work has been translated into 15 languages.
Dr. Lavie, a senior researcher in the Technion, has focused her research on understanding the cellular and biochemical impacts of breathing cessations and sleep apnea. She’s a frequently cited scholar in the areas of cell biology, cell culture, stem cell biology, stem cell differentiation, sleep apnea and sleep disorders. Dr. Lavie is also married to Peretz Lavie, the 16th president of Technion.
